How to know if your Child Needs more Sleep | SEA Lessons – 1868-308-4028

Step 1

It is a fact that teenagers need 9.25 hours of sleep for optimal performance. According to the National Sleep Foundation, "15% of teens are only getting 8.5 hours" per night, which is insufficient.

 

Step 2

Lack of sleep contributes to your teenager's academic performance, attitude, mood and inability to drive.

 

Step 3

One reason why teenagers have trouble sleeping, aside from stress, is cell phone calls and text messaging received from their friends throughout the night.

 

Step 4

Ensure that your teenager has the same sleep/wake patterns through the week as on the weekend. Talk to your teenager about what is causing him/her stress and lack of sleep, and turn his/her cell phone completely off during the night.
